What Healing Looks Like at Rising Roots Healing

When people ask me, “What does healing look like with you?” I smile, because healing isn’t one thing, it’s a journey, and it’s deeply personal. At Rising Roots Healing, my role is to walk beside you as you explore the layers that have shaped who you are, while also guiding you back to the truth of who you’ve always been.

The Roots: Core Wounds and Conditioning

We all carry core wounds, deep hurts, often from childhood, that shape how we see ourselves and the world. On top of that, there’s cultural conditioning (messages from family, traditions, or community about how we “should” be), societal conditioning (the influence of media, school, and social structures), and cognitive biases (mental shortcuts our brains use that can keep us stuck in old beliefs).

For a long time, I let these patterns run my life without even realizing it. Healing began when I decided to pause and ask: Is this truly me? Or is this just what I was taught to believe?

The Tools: Returning to the Now

Healing isn’t about perfection; it’s about presence. And it can be messy. Some days it feels like peace; other days it could feel like you are unraveling. I remind myself daily: I am still healing on my journey, too.

Together, we use tools that help us return to the present moment, like:

  • Awareness – The ability to notice your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors without judgment.
  • Mindfulness – A practice of gently bringing yourself back to the present moment instead of being lost in the past or future.
  • Grounding – Techniques like breathwork, Reiki, sound healing, or simply noticing your body to anchor yourself in the Now.
  • Higher states of consciousness – Expanding beyond the everyday “I” to tap into a greater awareness of being connected to all of life.

At the deepest level, healing is remembering that there is no separation. We are not divided from each other, from nature, or from Source. The illusion of separation keeps us stuck in fear and comparison, but when we see through it, we return to wholeness.

Ego, Projections, and Triggers

Healing also means understanding the ego, the part of us that creates identity and stories. Ego isn’t “bad,” but when it runs the show, we get trapped in old patterns.

One of the ways the ego shows up is through projections. A projection is when we see something in another person that actually reflects something within ourselves. If someone triggers us, it doesn’t always mean they’re “wrong.” It might be pointing us toward something in ourselves that needs healing.

In those moments, I pause and ask: What story am I telling myself right now? Why does this bother me? That awareness helps shift the focus back to what I can actually control, my own reaction. I can’t control how others show up, but I can choose how I respond.

What Healing Feels Like

Healing isn’t a straight line. It isn’t perfection. It’s messy, it’s human, and it’s ongoing. I am still healing every day on my journey, and that’s the point. Healing doesn’t mean you “arrive.” It means you learn to live more openly, more present, and more connected to your true self.

Working together, you may feel moments of deep peace, like a breath you didn’t know you were holding, finally releasing. You may notice yourself telling new stories, responding with more clarity, and experiencing less reactivity when life brings challenges.

And slowly, you begin to remember: You were never broken. You were always whole.
